The torch of Schimmer Fragrance was lit by the Late Shri Raj Kishore Seth in 1949. The same torch is still shining brightly in the fragrance and perfume industry even after 75 years. Seth Brothers Perfumers Private Limited was established in 1949 by Shri Raj Kishore Seth in Tilak Bazar, Delhi-6. The fragrances of Schimmer Industrial fragrances brand not only supplies to the incense, detergents, soaps, fresheners, roll-ons, candles, cosmetics and aroma therapy but everything that needs fragrance. Schimmer means “burning torch” and its light has been illuminating all over India for the last 75 years. Today, the third generation of Seth Brothers is in the business and the company’s core mantra has always been “Innovation while maintaining the tradition and quality”. This is the reason that today Shimmer brand of Seth Brothers, emerging from the streets of Delhi-6, is becoming popular in the country from North to South and from East to West through other offices in Mumbai, Kolkata etc.
The birth and journey of Seth Brothers Perfumers have been full of challenges. Late Shri Raj Kishore Seth started his career at Agarbatti Company of Himmat Jhalawar. There he learned everything from production to raw materials and perfume work. In 1946, he took over the business of Gupta & Company Mumbai office. Seeing his ability, the owner of the company Lal Saheb advised him to start his own business and thus Shri Rajkishore ji came to Delhi and laid the foundation of Seth Brothers in 1949. The business gradually started progressing and his elder son Mr Padam Kishore Seth, who at that time was manufacturing transmitters for Mumbai Radio, took over.
He came to Delhi to help his father. With the wisdom of Shri Padam Kishore, Seth Brothers started progressing by leaps and bounds. In the 60s, Rajkishore ji’s second son Mr Naval Kishore Seth also joined this business and took over the Delhi office. Soon the third son Mr Raghuvansh Kishore Seth took charge of the Varanasi office. With hard work, honesty and high-quality products, the popularity of Seth Brothers’ brand Schimmer Fragrances started increasing rapidly. At the beginning of 1970, Mr Vinod Kumar Seth, son of Mr Padam Kishore Seth, laid the foundation of the factory in Naraina.
In a conversation with Sugandh India, Mr Vinod Kumar Seth said that the sapling of business was planted by the Late Mr Raj Kishore Seth. Today it has become a banyan tree. Under the guidance of our Mumbai colleague and his friend Patel Saheb, achievements increased. He said that I am of the third generation and after working for six months in Europe, I took the business further. He said that there were two main things in the successful journey of 75 years. Firstly quality control and secondly to fully cooperate with the government policies. He said that I am allowing my younger brothers and the next generation to expand the business further and hope that they will be successful in taking the company forward and taking this journey to 100 years.
A major achievement of Seth Brothers in the 80s was the establishment of the Mumbai office. At this time Mr Naval Kishore and Mr Raghuvansh Kishore were doing distribution work in different parts of the country and were increasing their hold in the business. The Seth Brothers wanted to play a bigger role in the entire fragrance industry, not just in manufacturing and distribution. The Seth brothers also became an important part of the Fragrance Flavor Association of India (FAFAI). In 1986, Mr Padam Kishore Seth was elected president. After this, other members of the family also continued to be a part of the association. In the year 2001, Mr Vinod Seth became the President and then in 2013, Mr Rohit Seth took over this post. This in itself was very significant as it was the first time in the fragrance industry that 3 members of the same family got a chance to lead FAFAI. When the Kolkata office was established in the 90s, the third generation Mr. Rohit Seth, Mr Luv Seth and Mr Kush Seth took over the business. Speaking to Sugandh India, Mr Rohit Seth said that I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to spread Schimmer Fragrances all over India, which was started by our grandfather. Today we are entering 75 years and similarly, we will also complete 100 years. Luv Seth said that we have been successful in promoting our brand Schimmer Fragrances in the North-Eastern states and South India. In 2016, the production unit of Seth Brothers installed a GCM machine.
Apart from this, a wonderful blend of science and art was prepared. In this regard, Mr. Kush Seth said that I am the youngest member of the family and I have learned from the elders that one can move forward only by managing quality. Today we all are in our 75th year and our ancestors have contributed to this. He said that all the tests are done on the machines and we provide the best quality products. In the future, we hope that the journey of Schimmer Fragrances will complete a century and continue to move forward.
