Camphor is widely used for worship, meditation, yoga and purifying the environment. Unfortunately, the majority of the camphor products sold in the market are adulterated and made from chemicals which makes them harmful for health. Mr. Vivek Dujodwala, the Managing Director of SVD PineChem and the third generation in the business in a special conversation with Sugandh India, shared that in just four years, Bhimseni Camphor has become a pan-India success. Sharing about the history of the group, Mr. Vivek Dujodwala said that back in the early 1960’s ‘Dujodwala Group’ were pioneers in Pine Chemicals in India. The group initially operated in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Hoshiapur in Punjab. These states are close to the pine forests that gave birth to the industry. Later on, the group expanded its operations to pan-India and its headquarters were set up in Mumbai. Vivek added that SVD Resins & Plastics was incorporated as a private limited company in 1984, and has been in continuous operation since then. On 26th December, 2022, the company changed its name to SVD PineChem to more accurately reflect its core activities. Aside from the advanced manufacturing facilities, the company also sources raw materials from other parts of India and from as far afield as Brazil and Indonesia.
About his products, Mr Dujodwala said that his company manufactures Gum Rosin, Pine Oil, Dipentene, Camphor Powder, Isoborneol Powder, Bhimseni Camphor Flakes and Paraffin Wax. Giving emphasis on his camphor products, Vivek said that SVD PineChem supplies to companies that deal with camphor related products.
Informing further about camphor products, Vivek said that Bhimseni camphor has gained popularity since last four years, specially post covid as people have started realising its health benefits. Bhimseni camphor as Vivek explains is fully organic and is made from Isoborneol powder. It is also known by different names; Baras Kapoor, Badshah Kapooram, Thal Kapoor, etc. Bhimseni camphor flakes are made using a heating process.
Sugandh India asked about the AuraCam brand by SVD PineChem to which Vivek responded that other than supplying products to other companies, we also have our retail camphor brand by the name AuraCam. Under AuraCam we have two products, Camphor tablets and Bhimseni camphor. They are premium, organic and 100% pure and it’s why we proudly position ourselves as the ‘GOLD STANDARD’. The AuraCamBhimseni Camphor is liked a lot by the customers. It has a strong aroma and is especially liked by people who like the smell of camphor. In a response to a question regarding how AuraCam products are different from the market, Vivek explained that as mentioned earlier, our products are 100% organic. The market is full of adulterated products that attract customers with their cheap price but our products are pure and premium. We want to make customers aware about real camphor through AuraCam, he remarked.
Vivek informed Sugandh India that AuraCam is available pan-India and we have been getting a good number of online orders from sites like Amazon as well. Our product is not the cheapest, it is a premium product but we also give offers from time to time and we have been getting repeated orders.
In a response to a question regarding the difference between Camphor tablets and Bhimseni Camphor, Vivek responded that both are different. Tablets are made by compressing the powder. These are mainly used for burning during Aarti and havan. Bhimseni Camphor on the other hand is an aroma product mainly used for spreading its fragrance. While Camphor tablets are made from camphor powder, Bhimseni Camphor is made from Isoborneol Powder. Both of these ingredients belong to the same family but Isoborneol Powder is on a much higher level in terms of purity. The manufacturing process also enhances its aroma.
Vivek commented that along with producing a premium product, we have also given special attention to its packaging because consumers, particularly the youth, are attracted towards attractive packaging. Our products come in a premium transparent jar packaging so that the customer can also see the product that is inside.
In the end Vivek remarked that he was quite surprised by the response from the younger generation towards his product. People now have become health conscious; hence they want to buy the best premium products and AuraCam fulfils that.
