Ahmedabad-based Ocean’s Deep Printers is an A-rated packaging company. The company has been running successfully for around 90 years. National-level agarbatti brands are their clients. The head of the company Mr Shripal Patel said in a special conversation with Sugandh India that his company finalizes the design of packaging in just one hour. We have the world’s most advanced machines and design technology, which can instantly design, print and make a complete dummy of how the packaging will be.
Shripal ji said that his family has been in the printing and packaging business for 90 years and his two sons- Vrund and Shubh Patel are the fifth generation in this business. Vrund heads the flex pouch packaging division asnd Shubh handles the rigid box and cannister round packaging division. His company can provide a box of ₹ 10 to a box of 4-5 thousand rupees in minimum and maximum number and specially the extra premium quality packaging.
He said that incense sticks is our main area. Apart from this, we also prepare packaging material for other products. The company used to work only in Gujarat. However, since 2014 we have been working for big brands on national level. Almost all big agarbatti companies are our clients. He said that the company has always been using advanced technology machines.
In response to a question, he said that when I brought the Israeli machine ‘Scodix’ it was very expensive and people remarked that this machine would not work. After 6-7 years I can say that it’s the dream of every brand to get their packaging done on Scodix. International perfume brand’s boxes are made on Scodix and so we applied that technique on agarbatti boxes. Many national level agarbatti brands are now getting their premium product boxes done from us through Scodix. This machine has also gotten us many awards.
On the question on the challenges faced by the packing industry, he said— The rates of packaging material have increased a lot. Still, we have been trying for much better packaging.
In response to a question about new technology in the packing industry, he said recently, we launched without cylinder zipper printing service. Printing zippers with cylinders costs a manufacturer 1-1.5 lakh rupees. Through our technology we can provide it for 15-20 thousand rupees. Suppose someone launches 10-15 products simultaneously, then he will have to spend 12 to 15 lakhs to do it with cylinder. We help our new clients in saving that much amount initially by doing 3000 zipper pouches for 15 to 20 thousand rupees because we believe if the product fails, then it will not cause much loss to the manufacturer and it will be saved. And if the product is a hit, then the client can move on to cylinder. This will save a lot of investment for the manufacturers. He said that the state-of-the-art machines have done a great job in agarbatti packaging.
Talking about the awards, Shripal ji told that he has gotten many awards for printing and packaging. In 2022 we were awarded by UK based company ‘PrintWeek’ for Packaging Converter of the year (Paperbag/Textile). We were nominated in 7 different categories. On 3rd March 2023, Screen Print India organized Industrial Print Excellence Awards and awarded us with Gold award for Packaging.
