The Aim of PowerPoint is Pan India and Global Market: Anil Bhai

PowerPoint Agarbatti (J K Totalerg Products Pvt. Ltd.) from Mumbai after gaining popularity in Maharashtra is gearing up to become an India-wide brand soon and then enter the global market. Powerpoint’s premium and economy products in all segments like Agarbatti, Dhoop and Sambrani are finding favour in Mumbai, Thane, Raigarh and Pune. The marketing and distribution strategy to establish PowerPoint at home and abroad has been devised by Anil Bhai, who has long had a special identity in the market across Mumbai. The PowerPoint Company’s factory is located in Bhiwandi, from where the entire Maharashtra will soon be supplied. The company is also expanding its distribution network in various districts of Uttar Pradesh and further planning for other states including Rajasthan, MP, Uttarakhand, etc. Speaking to Sugandh India, Anil Bhai, one of the directors of PowerPoint, said, “We offer the best quality products in the market and have the best marketing experience and sales team. In this situation, we are well on our way to becoming an India-wide brand soon. Replying to a question, he said that the company manufactures around 250 products in premium and economy categories like incense sticks, joss sticks, dry sticks and sambrani cups, but our aim is to make our products available to the general public. That is why we pay particular attention to the economic segment.

On the question of Sugandh India, why did it enter the incense sticks and incense industry? Mr. Anil Bhai said that his father had started the Manohar Agarbatti Store in Matunga in 1968. After this, he started wholesale work and then started getting distribution from big branded companies and a complete marketing network was formed. In this way Manohar Agarbatti Store was doing well in both retail and wholesale. Then came the age of networking and Cycle was the first brand to start networking followed by Padmini. We had to change with the time and so I appointed salesmen. He said that he got to work with Shalimar from 2002. I also had association with brands like Satya, denim,Ratnamala, BIC, but the entire market got disturbed during the Corona pandemic. In such a situation, my son-in-law Mr. Vimal Shah and nephew Mr. Harsh Katara, who were associated with PowerPoint, advised me to switch from sales to production. After much deliberation, I agreed to this and started a factory in Bhiwandi. From there we started supplying to Mumbai, Thane, Raigarh, Pune and other areas of Maharashtra.

In response to the question regarding naming PowerPoint, he said that this name was already decided. The company was in business before COVID. I joined late. Today this brand is gaining popularity. He said that the company has big plans for the future and we are moving rapidly in that direction. The reason for this is that today consumers want quality products and we are providing the best quality products. I have knowledge about compounding, raw materials, and perfumes since childhood. If all these things are of good quality, then no one can stop your product. In response to a question, he said that there has been a huge change in the market in the last decade. Cycle Pure brand adopted the strategy of branding and strong marketing for the first time and then other major brands followed the same. I have been a retailer myself and I know that only a few customers ask for the brand name. Most of the time its the seller who sells that product which is profitable to him. In such a situation, the product can be marketed through quality and proper marketing. Under this thinking, we are aiming to make PowerPoint pan India and then make it a global brand.

Mr. Anil Bhai informed Sugandh India that they have around 250 different kinds of incense products. It also has roll packing of 40g, 80g, 100g and 250g widely demanded in Raigarh and Thane. The company makes incense for premium and economy segments. Besides this, they also make premium masala agarbatti at a price-range of 1500-2000 (₹) per Kilo. The company is also manufacturing dry sticks, wet dhoop, cones, sambrani cup etc. On the price competition, he said that consumers want good quality products and they are delivering at most competitive rates. He said that the biggest challenge in the industry is agarbatti in every nook and corner. This makes our efforts all the more challenging, as we have to compete with local manufacturers. He said that when the import of raw agarbatti from China was banned, machines were installed in every nook and corner, many people benefited from it but today all big manufacturers are producing in bulk which has affected them and these people cannot survive in the market for long.

Talking about running the business, he said, selling goods on credit has become a culture. It is a problem for the manufacturer but since I had been a distributor and a retailer in the past, I know what seller has to go through. The manufacturers pressurise the sellers by saying that the product is fantastic and it’ll sell like hot cakes but the truth is something else. Then you get complaints from retailers and customers that the product is not good. Being a distributor I’ve gone through all this. Power Point is completely alert about quality control. We are also resolving their complaints immediately with good supplies. Apart from this, people already know me in the market. They trust me that if I have made something and am giving away something, it must be good. He said that even though we are in Maharashtra now, soon we will move towards Uttar Pradesh, the country and then global marketing, but before that, if we get export orders from foreign countries, we will also supply them. In response to a question, he said that the best markets for incense sticks and incense in the country are Kolkata and Mumbai. The market in Uttar Pradesh is of mass scale, but in Mumbai there is very high demand and supply. Apart from this, I have access to every shop and distributor in all the areas of Mumbai. That’s why we are succeeding in marketing very easily.
