The World AromaIngredientsCongress &Expo 2026,organized bythe EssentialOil Associationof India (EOAI), was heldfrom 16th to 18th March 2026at Fairmont Hotel, Mumbai,bringing together key playersfrom the essential oils,fragrance, flavour, and alliedindustries.

Centered around the theme“Scents & Tastes of Tomorrow:India’s Innovation in EssentialOils & Aroma Chemicals,”the event served as a dynamicplatform for industry leaders,manufacturers, exporters,researchers, and internationaldelegates to exchangeknowledge, explore innovations,and strengthen globalpartnerships.

Highlighting the significanceof the event, EOAI emphasizedthat Mumbai is steadilyemerging as a global hubfor the aroma industry, withincreasing demand for essentialoils, fragrances, and flavouringredients across multiplesectors. The association alsonoted that the industry iswitnessing strong growth notonly in traditional applicationsbut also in perfumery, cosmetics,Ayurveda, food processing, andwellness segments.

The event witnessed activeparticipation from companiesengaged in essential oils,fragrance compounds, flavouringredients, aroma chemicals,incense, cosmetics, and alliedsectors. The exhibition areashowcased a wide spectrumof products and innovations,reflecting the evolving landscapeof the aroma industry.

The congress provided avibrant platform for industryprofessionals to connect,collaborate, and explore newopportunities in the evolvingglobal aroma ingredientsmarket. The exhibition floorshowcased a diverse range ofproducts, including essentialoils, aroma chemicals, fragrancecompounds, incense products,and raw materials.

Industry–Academia Collaboration Takes Centre Stage

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) betweenthe Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) and IIT Indore, marking an important step towardsstrengthening research, innovation, and skill development in the aroma sector.

The collaboration aims to promote the development of aroma chemicals, fragrances, and flavouringredients through advanced research and technical expertise. As part of this initiative, plans are alsounderway to establish a dedicated perfumery training school at IIT Indore, which is expected to nurtureskilled professionals and bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic learning.

This strategic partnership reflects the industry’s growing focus on innovation, education, and longtermcapacity building, further reinforcing India’s ambition to emerge as a global leader in the aromaingredients and fragrance industry.

 

EOAI further highlighted thatthe Indian aroma industryis playing a crucial role inemployment generation andexport growth, positioning itselfas an important contributorto the country’s economicdevelopment. With rising globaldemand and increasing focuson natural and sustainableproducts, India is steadilystrengthening its presence in theinternational aroma ingredientsmarket. The event also reflectedgrowing synergy betweenessential oils, fragrance houses,and the incense industry, withstrong participation fromleading companies and industrystakeholders.
