The World Aroma Ingredients Congress & Expo 2026, organized by the Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI), was held from 16th to 18th March 2026 at the Fairmont Hotel, Mumbai, bringing together key players from the essential oils, fragrance, flavor, and allied industries.

Centered around the theme “Scents & Tastes of Tomorrow: India’s Innovation in Essential Oils & Aroma Chemicals,” the event served as a dynamic platform for industry leaders, manufacturers, exporters, researchers, and international delegates to exchange knowledge, explore innovations, and strengthen global global partnerships.

Highlighting the significance of the event, EOAI emphasized that Mumbai is steadily emerging as a global hub for the aroma industry, with increasing demand for essential oils, fragrances, and flavor ingredients across multiple sectors. The association also noted that the industry is witnessing strong growth not only in traditional applications but also in perfumery, cosmetics, Ayurveda, food processing, and wellness segments.

The event witnessed active participation from companies engaged in essential oils, fragrance compounds, flavor flavouringredients, aroma chemicals, incense, cosmetics, and allied sectors. The exhibition areas showcased a wide spectrum of products and innovations, reflecting the evolving landscape of the aroma industry.

The congress provided a vibrant platform for industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and explore new opportunities in the evolving global aroma ingredients market. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of products, including essential oils, aroma chemicals, fragrance compounds, incense products, and raw materials.

Industry–Academia Collaboration Takes Centre Stage

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) and IIT Indore, marking an important step towards strengthening research, innovation, and skill development in the aroma sector.

The collaboration aims to promote the development of aroma chemicals, fragrances, and flavor ingredients through advanced research and technical expertise. As part of this initiative, plans are also underway to establish a dedicated perfumery training school at IIT Indore, which is expected to nurture skilled professionals and bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic learning.

This strategic partnership reflects the industry’s growing focus on innovation, education, and long-term capacity building, further reinforcing India’s ambition to emerge as a global leader in the aroma ingredients and fragrance industry.

EOAI further highlighted that the Indian aroma industryis playing a crucial role in employment generation and export growth, positioning itself as an important contributor to the country’s economic development. With rising global demand and increasing focus on natural and sustainable products, India is steadily strengthening its presence in the international aroma ingredients market. The event also reflected growing synergy essential oils, fragrance houses, and the incense industry, with strong participation from leading companies and industry stakeholders.
